Description: The gauge's job is to draw a line parallel to a surface or reference edge. It is employed in sheet metal and joinery processes. A beam, a head stock, and a marking or scribing tool—usually a pin—make up the gauge. The head stock is secured in position by a locking screw, cam lever, or wedge as it glides along the beam. The marking tool is fastened to a single beam end.
